  • In the Schedule tab, you will find the classroom schedule as well as the order of the topics for the year.
  • In the Resources tab, you will find extra practice for your child as well as the math standards for seventh grade.
  • In the Contact Me tab, you will find all needed information to get in touch with me.
  • In the Important Dates tab, you will find the 2016-2017 academic calendar and important dates at West View.

Tutoring

Tutoring will be available to any student on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 7:30-8:00.  Students may obtain a tutoring pass from me at any time during the year.  If a student does not have a tutoring pass, they can still come back in the morning, but they will be given a pass when they come.

It is the student's responsibility to come to tutoring and bring something to work on, whether it be a topic that he or she is struggling with, a worksheet, or to review quizzes or tests.  Students who come with nothing to work on will be sent back to the gym.

Weekly Worksheet and Friday Quizzes (1st, 3rd, 4th periods only)

Every Monday the "Weekly Worksheet" will be available for students to get.  This worksheet will review basic mathematical concepts from 4th, 5th, and 6th grade that will appear in the 7th grade topics. (Adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions and decimals... Ordering rational numbers... etc...) They will have all week to work on the worksheet and turn it in first thing on Friday.  It could have anywhere from 10-30 problems depending on the difficulty of the topic. It should take no more than 30 minutes to complete.  Students may have time to work on it in class when they have finished their bell ringers, quizzes, or assignments for the day.  These concepts are all review, but if students need help on it, they can come to tutoring.  Students who do not complete the worksheet by Friday will receive a grade of zero.

Every Friday there will be a quiz over the Bell Ringers from the week.  Students will complete a Bell Ringer with 4-5 questions Monday-Thursday.  We will go over every question in class and students will be responsible for correcting the Bell Ringers if they missed a question.  Bell Ringers will be review material from the entire year.  The Bell Ringers are not for a grade, but the quiz on Friday is a grade.  The quizzes will be based on the Bell Ringers from the week.  If students understand the problems from the Bell Ringers and know how to do them, they SHOULD do well on the quiz because the problems on the quiz will mimic the ones they saw during the week.
